Femoral Cannulae
Femoral cannulae are used to perfuse and drain blood via the femoral vessels during extracorporeal cardiopulmonary bypass. Femoral arterial cannulae are inserted into femoral arteries. They perfuse oxygenated blood into the patient. Femoral venous cannulae are inserted into femoral veins and advanced to the right atrium. They drain the venous blood that is returning to the heart.
